This project involved replacing the original fireplace and backburner with a very contemporary recessed electric stove. In order to place the new electric fire at the right level, we also had to raise the chimney head. Stone cladding was also added to create a rustic effect.  The final result is clean and cosy.  Compare before and after photos to see the difference this made.

The advice Andrew gave me was great. And pricewise he was brilliant. I'd say he was underpriced if anything.

The Customer Story

When was the work done?

Last year.

What was involved?

I had just bought my first home and it had the original fireplace with a back burner. I wanted to replace that with a modern electric fire that would go across the chimney breast. Andrew had to remove the old fireplace and back burner. He also had to remove the head on my fireplace so that I could position the new fire where I wanted it.  It was quite a messy job.

Why did you choose Dublin Stove Fitter?

They had been recommended to me by Stone and Stoves in Ashbourne. Andrew came up to assess my chimney and see if it was possible to do what I wanted to do. Originally I wanted an electric fire that would go the full width of the chimney so that you could see it from either side of the fireplace but I've a stone chimney breast so that would have been a very big job.

I did talk to other fitters but they were more sales people so they weren't able to tell if it was possible to do what I wanted. They said I would have to pay an engineer to call out. I really didn't want to pay for an engineer for something that I couldn't end up doing.

I liked Andrew because he is a builder too and the advice he gave me was great. He came up with a way that I could do it without needing big structural changes but still meeting regulations. He told me exactly what I could have in the space I had without going into hugh money.

How did the job run?

It went very smoothly.  Andrew was there for a couple of days with a couple of his workers. They were all great, very friendly, accomodating and punctual. I was really happy with the result.

Would you recommend Dublin Stove Fitter?

Yes, he impressed me. I'd highly recommend them. My mom is actually using him at the moment. He's very professional, friendly and reliable.

And pricewise he was brilliant. I'd say he was underpriced if anything.
